Bow Hunters
A Day in the life of a bow hunter at The Hunt Club starts when you arrive here any time after noon of the day before your hunt. This gives you time to settle in and for those of you who have not been here before, to check out the impressive display of some of the trophy bucks harvested here over the years. You will want to try out one of our stands and do a little practice shooting while it is still daylight out. If you haven’t met Ron and our whitetail guide, Keith, there will be an opportunity to do that and have an informal chat before dinner to go over judging and ageing trophy whitetails, review our guidelines again, and answer any questions you have. Dinner that evening will be your first meal at The Hunt Club. The first evening before a hunt is always an exciting time as the anticipation of the next morning resonates throughout the lodge.

The hunt the next morning begins about an hour before shooting time (which is 1/2 hour before sunrise) when you will enjoy coffee, juices, fresh fruit, cereals, breads and pastries before heading out to your deer stand for the morning’s hunt. Ron or Keith will have you to your stand in plenty of time to prepare for the hunt and, if you choose, we will send sandwiches with you in case you decide to stay longer than you normally would.

This is where your cell phone comes in! If anything goes awry with your morning, or, if it turns out that you are covered up with deer at your pickup time, you can call us! Occasionally a hunter gets lost, and that cell phone ensures that the morning hunt isn’t ruined.

Some bow hunters choose to come in for lunch and are picked up at a prearranged time. Ron and Keith are interested in your morning hunt, you enjoy a great lunch in the lodge and maybe a siesta before heading out for an afternoon in the woods. We understand that our bow hunters want variety in stands and we want you to enjoy variety in morning and afternoon stands. But we also want you to know that all of our stands are capable of producing a big buck at any time and we firmly stand behind the quality placement of our stands.

The lodge is a warm and welcoming place to come back to 1/2 hour after sunset to enjoy the beverage of your choice, share the afternoon’s adventures with your fellow hunters, and maybe get to see the harvest of one of the biggest bucks you have ever seen! Dinner is served about an hour after sunset and we think our food is the perfect culmination to a great day of hunting!
